CONTEMPORARY TEMPLE
Hampi,
India 2025
Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India.
It was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire from 1336 to 1565 when it was abandoned.
It is estimated to be the world’s second-largest city by 1500, after Beijing, and probably India’s richest at that time, attracting traders from Persia and Portugal.
The Vijayanagara Empire was defeated by a coalition of Muslim sultanates; its capital was conquered and destroyed by Muslim armies in 1565, after which Hampi remained in ruins.
Today more than 1.600 surviving remains of the last great Hindu kingdom in South India are spreaded over 4.100 hectares, including forts, riverside features, royal and sacred complexes temples, shrines, pillared halls, mandapas, memorial structures, water structures and others.
In this context, I acted by assembling a temporary, precarious structure, reminiscent of the temples around with the rubble of an abandoned construction site.
SECOND CHANCE
Thailand, 2025
Covering a dead tree with mud: sepulchral rite, sandblasting for sculpture, new momentary life for defenseless matter.
TO GET THERE, TOGETHER #1
Bern,
Switzerland 2024
with Samina Sofia Molfetta
Performed during ACT Bern at PROGR – Zentrum für Kulturproduktion – Bern.
Crossing the courtyard without ever touching the ground.
Mutual help, involvement of the people present.
The destination: a fountain of fresh water, life that flows, reachable only by walking together.
130 METRES JOURNEY
Catania,
Italy 2024
Crossing a familiar space in a different way transforms the path, however short, into an experiential journey.
CONFORT ZONE
Reykjavik,
Iceland 2022
Project developped for SIM Residency with the support of Little Constallation and Plutôt la vie... plutôt la ville. Premio Roberto Daolio per l’arte pubblica.
When I left for Reykjavik I packed a suitcase full of fruits and vegetables.
I was afraid I would not find fresh products in such a nordic and hostil place, also Iceland has a reputation for being an expensive country.
That suitcase never reached Reykjavik with me: I had to abandon it in a tobacco shop before catching the plane because I was late.
It was my 12,7 Kg of confort zone.
I had to leave it.
It took me ten minutes to find it again inside the dumpster right next to my guest house.
So I decided to share it.
ARTIST EMPTIES HIS HOME
Bologna,
Italy 2020
Painting means creating and accumulating objects.
Objects take up space.
When you have to move, you realize how much space your art has occupied, how much of your living space you have given to art.
So I decided to create a sharing moment in the street of Bologna, near my house of that time, in which to show, sell, barter, talk about art and in the meantime, thanks to passers-by, free up my living space.
